マーキュリー・ニュース「Assistant G.M. says team isn't close to making trade」で、ジャイアンツをめぐるトレード話。7月31日デッドラインに向けて、各チームの駆け引きが続いている様子。いずれにせよ発表はギリギリだろう。

``We're not close to anything right now,'' Colletti said. ``We're not a tweak away from a deal. We're not a prospect away from a deal. The prices are still as high today as they were two or three days ago, and we're not interested.
``The prices can come down, which they usually do in the last 24, 48 hours. If they do, our interest may be restarted someplace. It can change in an instant. Right now, our interest level does not equal the value the other teams are putting on their players, so there is no deal to be made.''

ただ、ジャイアンツは他チームが欲しがる二人のプロスペクトMatt CainとMerkin Valdezは放出しないのが基本方針。

The Giants would like to bolster their bullpen and perhaps add an everyday outfielder, but they have no interest in trading the two prospects repeatedly inquired about: right-handers Matt Cain and Merkin Valdez.

Wednesday, rumors surfaced that the Giants were discussing at least two three-team deals to acquire Urbina. One scenario suggested Florida would add prospects in a deal; the other had Houston center fielder Carlos Beltran going to Detroit.

フロリダにProspectを放出させるにせよ、ヒューストンに移ったばかりのベルトランを放出させるにせよ、デトロイトからUrbinaを取るとすれば、ジャイアンツは誰を出すのだ?
このディールだと、Prospectを出さない代わりに、かなりの選手を出すディールのはず。ペドロ・フェリスくらいでは成立しないだろうしなぁ。アルフォンゾ、ダーラムをフロリダやヒューストンが欲しがるとも思えないし。誰だろう? J.T. スノーか?

One of the slowest markets in years has some general managers wondering whether the real deadline dealing will come in August this year.

7月31日までのトレードと8月31日までのトレードの違いは、7月31日がNon-Waiver Trading Deadlineだということである。
