SBC Parkまで応援に行った甲斐あり。S.F. Giants完勝で、ナリーグ西地区2位浮上(L.Aも勝ったため、首位とのゲーム差は1.5と変わらない)。

7時15分試合開始なので、昨日は5時40分に車で自宅を出た。101ではなく280を使って、約1時間で、6時40分くらいに球場の駐車場(Parking B, 駐車場代18ドル)到着。「Will Call」でチケットを受け取り、球場(クラブレベル:ホーム真後ろからやや一塁寄りの二階席)には7時頃入る。ホットドック(5.25ドル)をちょうど食べ終わったところで、試合開始。
Los Altosが昼間90度(華氏)くらいあって暑かったので、ちょっと油断して薄着(Tシャツに薄手のウィンドブレーカ)で出かけたが、San Franciscoは案の定冷え込んで、少し寒かった。Giantsのスウェットシャツでも買おうかと売店を見るも、安物なのに65ドルもするので、買わずに我慢。
昨日の「「An Optimistic Prediction」再び」で一級品と書いた打線「Durham, Tucker, Grissom, Bonds, Feliz, Alfonzo, Pierzynski, Perez」だが、昨日は、FelizとAlfonzoが入れ替わって「Durham, Tucker, Grissom, Bonds, Alfonzo, Feliz, Pierzynski, Perez」となっていた。
Perezは非力ゆえ、Snowが怪我から復帰してFelizをショートに持っていって置き換えられればベストだが、その他は皆、調子を上げてきている。昨日もBondsに続く3人「Alfonzo(2安打2打点), Feliz(2安打、うちホームラン1、2打点), Pierzynski(2安打、うちホームラン1、3打点)」が大活躍したので、完勝となった。

(1) 不調のKirk Rueterが7回を自責点0で押さえたこと。
(2) ボンズ敬遠後に、AlfonzoとFelizがちゃんと打って、初回に4点を入れたこと。こういうことが続いて初めて、ボンズ敬遠が減るのだ。
(3) 足を痛めてDLに入っていたDurhamが、Tuckerの安打で1塁から3塁まで走れたこと。守備でもいいプレイを見せたこと。
(4) 開幕当初、不調に加えて、チーム内での不和が表面化して問題児だったPierzynskiが特大ホームランを含め大活躍したこと。

4月23日に188だった打率が、今は280まで上がってきた。つまり、4月23日以降の打率は3割を大きく超えているということ。Pierzynskiには、ミネソタでクローザーをやっているジョー・ネイサン(今のところ17セーブ、防御率1.50と素晴らしい成績)とのトレードが失敗でなかったことを、シーズン終了までにきっちり証明してほしいな。
