2002年は、403打数で198四死球。それでホームランは46。2003年は、390打数で148四死球。それでホームランは45。
今年76試合までの数字が、188打数で128四死球。それでホームランが23。
打席数に対する四死球率は、2001年が27%。2002年が33%。2003年が27%。それがなんと今年前半は40.5%。まったく困ったものである。700号まであと19本。これは何とか今年の9月に達成されるものと思われるが、敬遠がもっと増えればこの達成も厳しくなる。SBCパークに700号を見に来たファンからの敬遠に対するブーイングはおそろしいものになるだろう。
ベーブ・ルースの714号は来年前半で抜くだろう。ハンク・アーロンの755号まではどうだろうか。今年が去年と同じ45本だと、703号までいく。すると、「2005年に52本」で到達だが、それはちょっと苦しい。敬遠が少なければいくのだろうけれど。よって「2005年、2006年の2シーズンをかけて52本」が現実的。今年で40歳のボンズだが、年齢の衰えは守備に見えているだけで、打撃は完璧さが増している。アーロンのメジャー記録は、サンフランシスコで2006年前半に達成してほしい。
